Corten steel edging

If you build a flower bed with corten steel edging, you reduce the likelihood that snails will munch on your plants. Corten steel contains a little less than 1% copper, which repels snails, as they feel a slight electric shock when they touch the steel. This makes corten steel borders a sustainable and ecological method for keeping snails away from your plants.

Internal corner

This border is an internal corner, meaning it is bent at a 90° angle. An internal corner is sometimes referred to as an interior or inside corner. The difference with an external corner is the placement of the interlocking mechanism.

Speed up corten steel rusting

The corten steel is not (completely) corroded upon arrival. It can take several weeks to months for the natural oxidation process to be completed. Fortunately, there are ways to accelerate this process. The fastest method is using rust accelerator. Simply apply the rust accelerator with a sponge and the steel will have its signature colour in approximately 10 hours.

An alternative to our rust accelerator is to pre-degrease the Corten steel using a suitable cleaning agent. Next, apply a salt solution made by dissolving three large tablespoons of salt in 10 liters of warm water. Apply the salt solution generously using a plant sprayer or watering can. Please keep in mind that this method generally works slower than using our specially developed rust accelerator.
