Why choose this corten steel bed edging?

Corten steel border edgings are increasingly used for lawns. They ensure you maintain a neat, straight edge without having to trim it again every year.

Corten steel contains a small percentage of copper. When this oxidizes in combination with snail mucus, it creates a natural barrier. As a result, snails avoid the Corten steel, providing extra protection for your borders and plants.

This Corten steel lawn edging is 106 cm long, 40 cm high, and 1.5 mm thick. The effective length of the border edging is 100 cm, and the click system for connecting the edges together is approximately 6 cm. This extra-tall border edging is 40 cm high in total. The pins are 8 cm long, leaving the border edging 32 cm above the ground.

Please note: the edge of the border edgings may be sharp. Handle them with care during installation.

Speed up rusting of corten steel

The border edging is delivered in a metal color and is not yet rusted. The rusting process takes several weeks to months to complete fully. You can now also accelerate the rusting process of your border edgings. Wovar offers special rust accelerators for Corten steel. The rust accelerator, also called a rust activator, can be found on this page under "matching products". With a 0.25L bottle, you can rust up to an average of 27 of these border edgings on both sides! Apply the rust accelerator with a sponge, and your border edgings will be fully rusted within an average of 10 hours! Without a rust accelerator, it takes several weeks to months (depending on weather conditions) for your border edging to rust.

An alternative to our rust accelerator is to pre-degrease the Corten steel using a suitable cleaning agent. Next, apply a salt solution made by dissolving three large tablespoons of salt in 10 liters of warm water. Apply the salt solution generously using a plant sprayer or watering can. Please keep in mind that this method generally works slower than using our specially developed rust accelerator.

How to install corten steel bed edging

Thanks to the convenient click system, connecting the bed edging pieces is very easy. This edging is highly flexible and can be installed in smooth lines, but it can also form sharp corners. You can bend these corners to a right angle by placing a brick or another heavy, straight object at the bending point, then bend the edging around it to create a perfect corner. The pins are attached to the steel, making installation very simple! Below are 5 easy steps.

• Step 1: Determine where you want to use the edging and calculate how many meters you need.
• Step 2: Dig a trench with a spade where you want to place the edging. Recommended depth: 80 to 100 mm for a neat finish.
• Step 3: Place the bed edging in the trench and slide the pieces together. Secure them by bending the tab at the end.
• Step 4: Hammer the pins into the ground with a rubber mallet. Use a level to ensure the edging is straight. You can reinforce it with hardwood stakes.
• Use an angle grinder to adjust the length if necessary.
• Step 5: Fill the trench with gravel or soil depending on the intended use.
